We had hulless oats in soup yesterday, we bought some from a farmer.
It was everything I hoped, like rice but nuttier and chewier, like oat groats I suppose.
Braw! [ hoots, crivens and awa' ma boab! ] [one for Mrs L there ]
Definitely gonna go with this next year.  |

Wow CSF - your field looks more like half the world!!
I too read as many of your posts as I can find - the differences are quite amazing and the insight into a little of your life in Canada is fascinating.
It will be interesting to see how you find the naked oat - I like your pictures can we see some more please?

There are more pix if you click 'go to album' on photobucket?
Most people would find it pretty dull here. Still, in the light of climate change and the predictions for the future rise of food prices, maybe the 'True North Strong and Free' will come into it's own?
We could end up with Dorset weather!
Perhaps a CL Community out here on a big chunk of land will seem very sensible in a few years time?
Smart money is already buying up prairie land as in investment particularly in Saskatchewan. |
